Evans & Dixon provides defense services for Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA) cases.
The Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, usually referred to as the LHWCA or Longshore Act, is a federal workers’ compensation program that covers injuries which take place on or adjacent to navigable waterways to workers who are engaged in maritime employments such as loading, unloading, building or repairing barges or other vessels. Since many such waterways abut or run through Missouri and the adjoining states, many injuries take place that fall under the LHWCA and often there is both state and federal jurisdiction over the same injury.
Our Longshore Act attorneys can provide:
- Educational programs and seminars on LHWCA related issues.
- Assistance with LHWCA compliance.
- Defense of LHWCA cases from the Informal Conference stage up to and including hearing and appeal.
- Coordinating the resolution of cases where both state and LHWCA jurisdiction is evident.
